Community Involvement
Dr. Ortiz is passionate about giving back to her community. She is the Chair of the Logistics Committee responsible for planning the Beckley/Oak Hill Walk To End Alzheimer's as well as an active member of the Canyon Rim Rotary Club. She has also been involved and volunteered for various other efforts such as the Relay for Life, Food Pantry, and local children's charities.
In addition to her efforts in the community outside of work, New River
Vision Care has partnered with the Women's Resource
Center and area Lions Clubs to provide eye exams and
glasses to those in need. The office also offers a discount
on eyeglasses in exchange for donations made to the local
food pantry.
Another project that is very important to
Dr. Ortiz is educating people about eye health and safety.
She is always happy to speak to any group that is
interested in learning about different eye conditions and
how to keep your eyes healthy. In the last few years, she
has presented to several groups including the Fayette
County Senior Circle, various Fayette County Elementary
schools, Mt. Hope Lions Club, and the Fayette County
Association of Retired School Employees.
Dr. Ortiz has been visiting local 3rd
grade classrooms to present the American Optometric
Association's "Be Wise about Your Eyes"
campaign. Please contact the office if you would like to
schedule an eye health presentation for any age
group.
